30th June 2010 - Operation SPOKE Event (9th July 2010 - Parliament Square)

On 9th July, the Safer York Partnership and North Yorkshire Police will be hosting a shed/allotment security advice and Operation Spoke bike-marking event on Parliament Square between 9.30am and 4pm.

Please come along for free and useful advice on how to secure your sheds or allotments and/or to get your bike marked up with invisible and permanent UV marker onto our Operation Spoke database.

30th June 2010 - New Operation SPOKE Events

There will be 5 new Operation Spoke events at Cross Keys in the Dringhouses and Woodthorpe Ward between July and October. The first of these events will be held on the 9th July (at Cross Keys) between 9am and 4pm so bring along your bike so we can help secure it against being stolen.


28th June 2010 - Cycle Strips and Cycle Security

Over the last few weeks, the Safer York Partnership and North Yorkshire Police have been targetting cycle theft by attaching cycle strips to insecure or well-secured bikes.

These cycle strips contain a code (which you can go to here to find out what they mean) which indicate how well or poorly your bike is secured. On that page there are also links offering you advice on how to improve the security of your bike.

24th June 2010 - World Cup and Domestic Violence

National evidence suggests that Domestic Violence rises during the world cup. Safer York Partnership in collaboration with its partners has launched a campaign to inform people of the serices that are available.

A yellow strip was put around my bycycle saying it was brought to your attention for code B/F could you please explain thanks.

Hi Malcolm, thank you for taking your time to investigate the cycle-strip and for getting in touch with the Safer York Partnership. These strips are being attached to bicycles to alert the owners over the risks of cycle theft in York.
